Kai Cenat’s Fortnite Icon Series skin was just revealed in grand fashion on August 18, through a dazzling one-minute animation on the Las Vegas Sphere, a venue known for some of the most expensive digital showcases in the world.

The reveal also doubled as the announcement for Mafiathon 3, leading into the skin’s release on September 12.

Adin Ross, who was live on Kick during the reveal, had a surprisingly positive reaction despite his recent rivalry with Kai. Watching the massive showcase, Adin admitted, “That’s fire… good for Kai. I’ve never seen no Sphere shit like that in my life… him getting a Fortnite skin is amazing too, so crazy.”

He went on to call it “one of the craziest announcements” he’s ever seen, adding, “That shit costs a lot of money to do… good for Kai.”

This reaction stood out because the two streamers have been at odds recently, particularly over charity pledges. Earlier this month, Adin publicly challenged Kai to donate $400,000 to MrBeast’s TeamWater initiative, a campaign aiming to raise $40 million to provide clean drinking water to underserved communities. Adin promised to contribute himself but drew criticism for making his donation conditional on Kai’s participation. The move sparked online debates about “performative philanthropy,” and even Kick owner Eddie Craven advised Adin to donate without tying it to Kai.

Things escalated further when members of Adin’s circle, including mods Blurri and Shnaggyhose, brought up Kai’s unfulfilled promise to build a school in Makoko, Nigeria, following his visit in March 2024. Fans quickly echoed the accusations, flooding social media with comments like “Kai Cenat where the school in Nigeria you scammer.” However, MrBeast himself defended Kai, urging fans to stop the hate and clarifying that Kai’s decision not to participate in TeamWater wasn’t linked to Adin.

In light of that context, Adin’s latest response to Kai’s Fortnite milestone came across as much more supportive than critical. Instead of focusing on the rivalry or charity disputes, he praised the achievement and seemed genuinely impressed with the scale of the announcement.

Fans, however, remain divided. Supporters celebrated the reveal as a bold marketing move, while critics tied it back to the charity controversy, questioning priorities, calling Kai "greedy." Some fans even questioned the skin choice: "Kai doesn’t deserve a skin over Speed, who actually plays the game," and "crazy how someone so mid at fortnite got a skin."

For now, Kai hasn’t directly addressed the criticism, but the controversy has undeniably fueled more buzz around both the Fortnite skin and his upcoming subathon.
