Indian mythology is getting the AAA treatment in The Age of Bhaarat, a newly announced dark fantasy action-RPG from Tara Gaming, a fresh studio co-founded by legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, bestselling author Amish Tripathi (creator of the popular "Shiva Trilogy"), and veteran game developer Nouredine Abboud (Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands).
The game aims to blend rich Indian storytelling with cinematic combat and next-gen visuals—and it's already turning heads.
Set in an epic reimagining of ancient India, The Age of Bhaarat puts players in the role of a Forest Warden, a powerful guardian defending the homeland from demonic invaders known as Rakshasas. Players will master mystical weapons, spiritual powers, and fast-paced grappling-hook combat as they journey through environments inspired by Indian epics like the Ramayan.
“Gaming is where stories come alive for the next generation,” said Amitabh Bachchan. “And I’m excited to help shape that experience at Tara Gaming with a uniquely Indian lens.”
According to the official announcement, the game will feature:
A unique combat system with vertical movement using a grappling hook
Traditional Indian weapons combined with spiritual powers
Beautiful landscapes inspired by Indian epics like the Ramayan
A story written by Amish Tripathi about duty, betrayal, and ancient power
Character customization with different weapons and abilities
Both single-player and multiplayer options
While no release date has been confirmed yet, The Age of Bhaarat is coming to PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, as well as undisclosed consoles.
A “Create in India” Vision
According to Tara Gaming, the goal is to push Indian stories into the global spotlight through AAA-quality production. It’s not just about aesthetics—this is about empowering Indian storytellers and finally putting homegrown mythology in the hands of players worldwide.
Co-founder Nouredine Abboud describes The Age of Bhaarat as “a passion project years in the making,” and the announcement trailer delivers on that ambition with sweeping landscapes, mythical beasts, and cinematic flair.
The involvement of well-known figures like Amitabh Bachchan—described as "India's #1 actor"—and bestselling author Amish Tripathi gives the project additional credibility and highlights its cultural importance.
