Apple has officially joined The Game Awards Advisory Board, becoming the 14th member alongside some of the biggest names in the gaming industry.

The update was quietly made on The Game Awards’ website earlier this week (spotted by VGC), confirming Apple’s addition to a lineup that already includes Activision, AMD, EA, Epic Games, Kojima Productions, Microsoft, Nintendo, Riot Games, Rockstar, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Tencent, Ubisoft, and Valve.
So, what exactly does the Advisory Board do? According to The Game Awards, the board’s role is to “help guide and advance the mission of The Game Awards.” That means members provide strategic insight and industry perspective, but they don’t get to decide who wins. In fact, the board learns the results at the same time as the rest of us. The actual nominees and winners are chosen by a jury of media outlets, ensuring the awards remain independent of publisher influence.
This year’s ceremony is set to take place on December 11, 2025, live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. If last year’s numbers are anything to go by, we can expect another massive turnout. As per event producer and host Geoff Keighley, the 2024 show shattered records with 154 million livestreams, marking a 31% increase compared to the previous year.
