Key Highlight
Leading the charge this month is Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, the 2024 visual overhaul of Guerrilla Games' acclaimed 2017 open-world action RPG. In it, players follow Aloy, a young hunter navigating a post-apocalyptic world where colossal machines rule the Earth and tribal humanity struggles to survive among lush, overgrown ruins. The remaster brings upgraded lighting, textures, foliage, and character models to the already beloved experience, along with performance modes and quality-of-life improvements.
Joining it is The Crew Motorfest, Ubisoft Ivory Tower's open-world arcade racer set across the breathtaking Hawaiian archipelago. The game transforms the island of Oahu into a festival of car culture, offering over 600 vehicles, a dynamic weather system, and a wide array of events ranging from street racing to off-road and drifting challenges. It received a Metacritic score of around 76 on PS5, with critics and players alike praising its vibrant setting and impressive content volume, though noting some intrusive microtransactions.
Football Manager 26 Console rounds out the bigger names in the lineup. It features gloriously upgraded visuals, fresh motion capture, and new controller shortcuts designed to give managers more control from the touchline.
Beyond those headliners, the catalog adds a few more titles worth highlighting. Warriors: Abyss is Koei Tecmo's action roguelite that pits over 100 heroes from the Dynasty and Samurai Warriors universe against endless hordes in a hellish underworld. It was shadow-dropped in February 2025 and has since built a solid reputation for addictive, high-energy gameplay with strong replayability.
Monster Train is a roguelike deckbuilder with a tower defense twist. Originally released on PC back in 2020, it asks players to defend three vertical battlegrounds on a train simultaneously while building decks from six distinct monster clans.
Squirrel with a Gun brings a very different kind of energy to April's lineup. Players take on the role of a gun-wielding squirrel causing absolute chaos in a suburban sandbox environment, fighting off agents while collecting golden acorns. It was praised for its humor and creative premise, though it is best enjoyed in shorter sessions, given its modest length.
Rounding out the Extra and Premium catalog is The Casting of Frank Stone, Supermassive Games' horror narrative set in the Dead by Daylight universe. It blends cinematic storytelling with choice-driven gameplay and branching paths, in the style of Until Dawn. Reception has been somewhat mixed, and it's best appreciated by fans of the horror interactive drama genre or followers of the Dead by Daylight lore.
PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers also receive an exclusive classic this month. Wild Arms 4, the PS2-era JRPG originally released in 2006, comes enhanced with up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters. Set in the war-scarred world of Filgaia, the game features a unique turn-based battle system built around octagonal arena positioning.
In related news, the monthly PS Plus Essential games for April 2026 were announced earlier and include Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider I through III Remastered, and Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream.
All April 2026 Game Catalog titles go live on April 21, and regional availability may vary, so checking the PlayStation Store directly is always a good call.
