A new PEGI rating has surfaced suggesting Assassin’s Creed Shadows could be headed to the Nintendo Switch 2.

While the PEGI listing doesn’t explicitly mention the Nintendo version on the main game page, it appears when you search the title — an early sign that development for Switch 2 may be well underway.

This follows comments from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, who recently hinted at “new versions” of Shadows arriving on “other machines” during a shareholder forum.

The clues don’t stop there. As per a report by IGN, Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet also chimed in, confirming that another game — beyond the already announced Star Wars Outlaws — is planned for the Switch 2 within the current fiscal year. While he didn’t name Assassin’s Creed Shadows directly, the combination of statements from both executives strongly suggests it’s one of the titles being prepped for Nintendo’s next-gen hardware.

This development is especially notable given the Nintendo platform’s absence from the Assassin’s Creed RPG era. Previous entries on Switch have largely been limited to remasters and collections like Black Flag and The Ezio Collection, but nothing from the newer, expansive open-world lineage. A Switch 2 release of Shadows would mark the first brand-new title from the series landing on a Nintendo device in over a decade.

The PEGI rating itself offers additional insight into what players can expect. The game has been rated 18+ due to graphic violence, including dismemberment, decapitation, and depictions of seppuku — ritual suicide set within the game’s feudal Japan setting. Hostage executions and the ability to harm innocent NPCs are also part of the content warnings, reinforcing the game’s mature tone. On top of that, the game features optional in-game purchases, such as cosmetic bundles and Helix Credits, which PEGI notes parents and guardians should be aware of.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows initially launched in March 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Mac, GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna. Set in feudal Japan, the action-RPG follows dual protagonists: Naoe, a female shinobi, and Yasuke, an African samurai based on a real historical figure. Its refined stealth-action formula and cinematic presentation earned praise from critics. According to reviews, it’s considered one of the franchise’s strongest entries in years. The game gained 5 million players so far.

Rumors of multiple Ubisoft games coming to Switch 2 have been swirling since the company confirmed Star Wars Outlaws for the system, set to release on September 4, 2025. Now, with this fresh PEGI listing and Ubisoft’s suggestive statements, an official reveal for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Nintendo systems seems imminent — possibly before the fiscal year wraps up in March 2026.
