Team Asobi has announced a brand-new content update for Astro Bot, bringing five new challenge levels and special bots to the acclaimed platformer on July 10, 2025. The announcement was made during the 2025 Summer Game Fest, with additional details shared on PlayStation Blog.
The new content is part of the Vicious Void Galaxy, a challenging set of levels designed to test even the most skilled players. The update increases the total number of playable levels to over 90.
New Levels and Bots Revealed
The five new challenge levels include:
Twin-Frog Trouble
Suck It Up
Handhold Havoc
High Inflation
And a fifth, currently unannounced level meant to surprise players
The update also introduces fresh Special Bots, including Atsu from Ghost of Yōtei, along with his wolf companion. Team Asobi hinted that a “revengeful newcomer” will be joining the crew as well—though they’re keeping details under wraps.
“These five levels will require you to pull every bit of skill together to complete,” wrote Team Asobi. “And who knows? Maybe completing all Vicious Void might lead to something really cool?”
Controller Gets a Playful Update
In addition, the studio announced an updated version of the limited-edition Astro Bot DualSense wireless controller, scheduled to launch later this year.
While the design remains similar, it features a subtle touch: the controller’s touchpad now resembles Astro’s smiling face.
“Since the first controller proved so popular, we have brought it back with a new joyful twist,” the blog post teased.
No Signs of Slowing Down
Since its release in 2024, Astro Bot has received multiple free updates, and its success has been recognized across the industry. The game has won Game of the Year at the Game Awards and was named Best Game at the recent 2025 BAFTA Games Awards.
Despite growing speculation that this could be the final batch of DLC, Team Asobi hasn’t hinted at winding down. Studio head Nicolas Doucet emphasized their ongoing commitment to the fanbase:
“It has been a real delight to continue offering you, our valued fans, an extended Astro Bot experience at no additional cost.”
For now, players can gear up for a fresh Astro Bot challenge starting July 10 at 6:00am PT / 2:00pm GMT / 10:00pm JST.
