The expected pricing for ASUS’s upcoming ROG Xbox Ally handheld devices may have accidentally been leaked—and it’s not exactly what gamers were hoping for.
A recent report from Spanish outlet 3DJuegos spotted what appears to be an accidental listing on ASUS’s own website. The listing, seen via a Google search preview, displayed potential European pricing for the highly anticipated ROG Xbox Ally and its more powerful sibling, the ROG Xbox Ally X. While not yet confirmed by ASUS or Microsoft, the numbers are turning heads.
Leaked Prices Hint at Premium Bracket
According to the screenshot that circulated online, the prices are:
ROG Xbox Ally – €599
ROG Xbox Ally X – €899
With those values converted into other regions, the standard Ally could land around $700 USD / £520 GBP, and the Ally X may retail at about $1,050 USD / £780 GBP, depending on regional pricing strategies and taxes.
That places both models on the higher end of the handheld console market, significantly above competitors like the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch 2.
Xbox x ASUS: What’s Inside the Handheld?
The ROG Xbox Ally is the result of a collaboration between ASUS and Microsoft, revealed last month during the Xbox Showcase. Both models are expected to hit shelves by the end of 2025.
Here’s a quick breakdown of what each version offers:
ROG Xbox Ally
Ryzen Z2 A
16GB RAM
512GB SSD storage
7-inch FHD (1080p) display
60Wh battery
ROG Xbox Ally X
Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip
24GB RAM
1TB SSD storage
7-inch FHD (1080p) display
Adaptive triggers
80Wh battery
Both consoles will run a customized version of Windows 11, designed to deliver a seamless portable gaming experience with a full-screen Xbox-style interface. The UI will consolidate libraries from platforms like Xbox, Game Pass, Battle.net, and other PC digital stores (probably Steam), offering flexibility that mirrors a gaming laptop more than a traditional handheld.
Why the High Price?
The leaked pricing might come as a surprise, especially when the current ROG Ally (2024 version) was launched at $799 USD / £799 GBP. Many had speculated that Microsoft’s involvement would lead to some price cut. However, if these leaked prices hold, it seems the partnership hasn’t brought down the cost—at least not yet.
The new devices certainly promise a lot on the performance front. However, when stacked against the competition, the pricing feels steep. For context, the Steam Deck OLED with 1TB storage retails for $649 USD, while the Nintendo Switch 2, which supports up to 4K resolution, launched at around $449 USD.
At this point, it’s important to treat the information with caution. The prices were discovered through a preview on ASUS’s own website, which could have been placeholder data or accidentally published ahead of schedule. Neither Microsoft nor ASUS has issued an official statement regarding pricing.
