Atari has officially acquired the intellectual property rights to five Ubisoft titles: Cold Fear, I Am Alive, Child of Eden, Grow Home, and its sequel Grow Up.

The announcement was made on August 26, in a joint press release, highlighting that the move aims to preserve these games’ legacy while giving them a new life.

Atari confirmed that it intends to "reintroduce" the titles on modern platforms and adapt them to new publishing frameworks. This not only means the games will be more accessible but could also bring in fresh updates to enhance the player experience.

Ubisoft expressed confidence in the handover, with Deborah Papiernik, vice president of New Business at Ubisoft, noting that the partnership offers both long-time fans and newcomers a chance to experience these memorable worlds again.

Atari’s chairman and CEO, Wade Rosen, also hinted at future expansion, suggesting the franchises could "evolve" with new content and extended distribution opportunities.

Five game covers: Cold Fear shows an armed man on a ship in dark tones. Child of Eden has colorful, abstract art. I Am Alive depicts a figure in ruin. Grow Home and Grow Up feature a red robot in a vibrant, geometric environment.

This acquisition follows Atari’s recent business moves, including the announcement of its $5.2 million deal to acquire Thunderful Group, which is still awaiting shareholder approval. The timing signals Atari’s ambition to expand its portfolio and reinforce its presence in the gaming industry.
