A new game development studio called Atlantis Studio has officially opened its doors in southern France.
The company was founded by two seasoned game developers, Ru Weerasuriya and Nico Augusto, who are bringing years of industry experience to this new venture.
The team at Atlantis includes developers who’ve previously worked at big-name studios like Ubisoft, Ready At Dawn, and Midgar Studio—known for games like Assassin’s Creed, The Order: 1886, and Edge of Eternity.
Backed by private funding, Atlantis Studio has enough financial support to kick off development without needing a publisher right away—which gives them some creative freedom right out of the gate.
According to a report by GameBeat, Weerasuriya was formerly the president of Ready At Dawn, the studio behind The Order: 1886 and several hit VR titles like Lone Echo. That studio was eventually acquired by Meta but was shut down in August 2024.
Augusto, meanwhile, brings experience from Any Arts Productions and other gaming companies, rounding out a leadership duo with a strong creative vision.
So, what are they working on? While the team hasn’t spilled all the details yet, they’ve confirmed their first project will be focused on storytelling and emotional gameplay. It’s being built using Unreal Engine 5, so expect some serious visual polish.
Atlantis Studio is also hiring! They’re currently looking for developers, artists, and other creative minds to join their growing team. If you're interested, check out the open roles at 👉 atlantisstudio.fr
