Rebellion’s 1950s-inspired survival game Atomfall is getting its first major expansion just over two months after launch. Titled “Wicked Isle,” the DLC officially releases worldwide on June 3, 2025, bringing a haunting new setting, terrifying enemies, new gear, and multiple alternate endings to the critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic adventure.
What Is Wicked Isle About?
Set on the mysterious Midsummer Island, Wicked Isle leans heavily into the game’s folk horror themes. Players must first visit Wyndham Village and speak to the boat-keeper, who acts as the gateway to this new nightmare.
Here’s what players can expect on the Wicked Isle:
A fresh storyline filled with eerie lore and moral choices
New enemy factions, including pirate bandits and infected druids
Alternate endings for the core game
New weapons like:
A blunderbuss shotgun
A new bow, cutlass, daggers, and the mystical Beekeeper’s Staff
Upgraded tools, such as a better metal detector for finding loot
New character skills to give you an edge in combat and exploration
Rebellion dropped a chilling trailer for Wicked Isle, teasing the island’s twisted inhabitants and tense atmosphere.
How to Get Wicked Isle
Wicked Isle will be:
Free for players who own the Deluxe Edition or the Deluxe Upgrade Pack
Sold separately for $19.99 / £14.99 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox
Atomfall’s Success: A Game Pass Win
Released in March 2025, Atomfall quickly became a hit for Rebellion, racking up over 1.5 million players within a week of launch. Thanks in part to its day-one debut on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, the game recouped its development costs almost immediately, according to CEO Jason Kingsley.
In a conversation with GamesIndustry.biz, Kingsley emphasized that Game Pass actually mitigated financial risk, rather than undermining sales. “It gave us confidence to experiment, and it’s paid off tremendously,” he said.
What's Next for Atomfall?
Rebellion isn’t stopping with Wicked Isle. In an interview with The Game Business, Kingsley revealed the studio is already exploring the Atomfall universe further.
“We’ve now got the challenge of a massive new success in Atomfall. What do we do in the future? We've got DLC coming up… We're talking about sequels. Do we do spin-offs?”
With its unique British aesthetic, clever survival mechanics, and growing fanbase, Atomfall could very well become Rebellion’s next major franchise.
