After months of speculation and leaks, Battlefield 6's Battle Royale mode has now been confirmed by DICE through an official blog post.
Unlike previous attempts such as Firestorm in Battlefield V, this new take on the Battle Royale format is being built from the ground up with Battlefield’s DNA—destruction, vehicles, and squad-based combat.
Playtests Begin in Battlefield Labs
The developers revealed that before the full release, the mode will first be available in Battlefield Labs for testing. These playtests, starting this week, will allow registered players to jump in early and provide feedback. According to the blog, the information gathered here will help refine the experience before it goes live.
A Battlefield Twist on Battle Royale
This isn’t just a copy of other BR titles. DICE is making it clear that the mode is designed around the core Battlefield pillars:
Destructible environments – Buildings, walls, and cover can all be blown apart to gain tactical advantages.
Vehicles – From standard transports to powerful armored vehicles, mobility and firepower play a big role.
Squadplay – Matches will feature 100 players divided into 25 squads of four, emphasizing communication and teamwork.
Class system – Just like in the main game, you’ll pick from classes such as Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon, each with unique gadgets and traits.
On top of this, Battlefield’s version of the shrinking circle is particularly brutal. Instead of just a storm or gas, the team is calling it the “deadliest ring in BR,” a fiery wall that kills instantly on contact. No sneaking through or using it as cover—if you touch it, you’re done.
Progression, Missions, and Loot
Each match will have an XP-based progression system, letting players upgrade their chosen class with traits that give them an edge. Squads can also complete missions across the map to earn high-value rewards like weapon caches, redeploy kits, or even armored trucks. The loot system includes five weapon tiers, attachments, gadgets, strike packages, and more—pretty much ensuring every match feels dynamic.
Release and What’s Next
There’s no exact release date for the full launch of Battle Royale yet, but the developers confirmed it will arrive later this week in Battlefield Labs. That means players don’t have long to wait before diving in. With Battlefield 6 itself scheduled for release on October 10, 2025, fans will have plenty of time to sharpen their skills in the new mode ahead of the full game launch.
