Beat Saber has just passed a major milestone on the Meta Quest platform, with over 10 million users having played at least one track on their headsets (thanks, UploadVR).

Originally launched in 2018 for PC VR and later that same year for PlayStation VR, Beat Saber quickly became a fan favorite. It was also a day-one title when the Oculus Quest launched in 2019. Not long after, in November 2019, Facebook—now Meta—snapped up Beat Games, the studio behind the rhythm hit. Despite the acquisition, the game has stayed widely available and continues to get regular updates on other platforms, including PC VR and, until recently, PlayStation VR2.

Even before Quest came out, Beat Saber had already sold over a million copies. Just four months after Quest 2 launched, that number shot up to 4 million. According to Meta’s 2021 update, the game had already pulled in over $100 million in revenue on Quest alone. Fast forward to April 2023, and a report from The Wall Street Journal revealed that Beat Saber had earned a whopping $255 million across platforms.

What’s helped Beat Saber stick around for so long? A steady stream of music DLCs has definitely played a big part. Since joining the Meta family, Beat Games has expanded the soundtrack with songs from global icons like Lady Gaga, Eminem, BTS, Queen, Billie Eilish, and Metallica.

The game continues to dominate Meta’s weekly best-seller charts. Earlier this year, when Meta shared its top 50 best-selling paid Quest games of all time, Beat Saber proudly topped the list at number one.

But it’s not all good news for PlayStation users. Beat Games has officially announced that it’s ending support for both PlayStation VR (PS VR) and PlayStation VR 2 (PS VR 2). The update came via social media and the game’s official site. As of June 2025, no further updates will be rolled out for the PS4 or PS5 versions of the game.

That said, if you already own Beat Saber on PSVR or PSVR2, don’t worry—you can still play the game and access all your previously purchased content. The game will also stay available for purchase, and any songs released before June 18, 2025, will still be up for grabs.

Multiplayer support, though, is on the way out. Starting January 21, 2026, online multiplayer for Beat Saber on PS VR and PS VR 2 will officially shut down.

For those playing on Steam or Meta Quest, no changes there—Beat Saber will continue receiving updates and new content as usual.
