Bend Studio, the PlayStation developer best known for Days Gone, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Resistance: Retribution, and the Syphon Filter series, appears to be moving ahead with a brand-new multiplayer title.
A recently spotted job listing reveals the studio is seeking a Creative Director for a project "currently in development" with "experience with multiplayer game development and design."
According to the posting, the role will be responsible for setting "the creative vision, quality bar, and emotional tone of the game," while keeping the team “informed, aligned, motivated, inspired, and engaged.”
Beyond that, much of the description is standard for a leadership position, mentioning oversight of gameplay systems, mechanics, and overall player experience.
The news comes just months after Bend faced a major setback. In June, the studio reportedly laid off around 30% of its staff following the cancellation of an in-development live-service military shooter — a project that, according to Bloomberg, had cost Sony roughly $250 million before being scrapped.
Fans have long wished for a Days Gone sequel, but Bend Studio's recent track record hints at a different direction. In the past six years, several unannounced projects, including a possible Uncharted revival, have been scrapped. With their new multiplayer game still in its early stages, it could take years before players see any solid results — if it manages to avoid the fate of its predecessors.
