K-pop icon Lalisa Manobal, popularly known as LISA from BLACKPINK, has teamed up with Sony for a fresh PlayStation 5 advertisement. The short but sleek commercial dropped on July 1, showcasing the global superstar enjoying some of her favorite PS5 titles, including Astro Bot, which recently won Game of the Year 2024.
In the one-minute spot shared across PlayStation’s official social media channels, fans see LISA lounging with the DualSense controller in hand while a visual montage of games plays behind her. Titles like Helldivers 2, Tekken 8, Astro Bot, and Bungie's upcoming Marathon make quick appearances. The ad also features LISA’s new single Lifestyle from her 2025 album Alter Ego.
Interestingly, eagle-eyed fans may have already picked up hints of this collaboration earlier this year. In LISA’s February music video for FUTW, there’s a subtle shot of her playing Helldivers 2—DualSense controller and all. Looking back, it seems that might have been an early tease of what was to come.
This marks Sony’s second big-name celebrity collaboration in 2025 under its “No Play Limits” campaign. Earlier this year, the company featured Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard in a PlayStation Portal ad. So it’s clear Sony is aiming to broaden its reach by working with major entertainment figures outside the gaming world.
This isn’t LISA’s first foray into gaming, either. Back in 2020, she appeared in a YouTube video playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch, charming fans with her island setup and laid-back gaming style.
Given LISA’s massive social media following—over 106 million Instagram followers—Sony’s choice to spotlight her makes a lot of marketing sense. While some traditional gamers have grumbled online that this kind of campaign isn’t targeted at “core players,” the broader appeal is hard to deny.
Whether or not this directly translates to increased PS5 sales—it’s certainly a high-profile and strategic move by Sony to connect gaming with pop culture.
