Black Ops 7 Beta: Dates, Access, Maps, Modes, Rewards, and Progression Explained

The beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (BO7) begins tomorrow, October 2, 2025, kicking off with an Early Access period for select players before opening up to everyone in an Open Beta


The test will run across all major platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.


Below is a full breakdown of everything you need to know, based on official announcements.


Release Dates and Times

The beta is split into two phases, each running for 72 hours. Times are listed in Pacific Time (PT), which is UTC-7 in October.


Phase Schedule

  • Early Access (Pre-order & Game Pass only)

    • Start: Thursday, October 2 – 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET

    • End: Sunday, October 5 – 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET

    • Duration: 72 hours

  • Open Beta (All players)

    • Start: Sunday, October 5 – 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET

    • End: Wednesday, October 8 – 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET

    • Duration: 72 hours


Pre-loads begin September 30 through each platform’s store (Battle.net for PC, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, etc.).


How to Access the Beta

  • Early Access:

    • Automatically available for digital pre-orders (no code required).

    • Console players who purchased a physical edition will receive a beta code.

    • Included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscriptions.

    • Additional codes can be earned by watching the CODNext stream on Twitch for 1 hour (codes redeemable within 48 hours; stream begins 9:00 AM PT, September 30).

  • Open Beta:

    • Free for all players — no code or pre-order needed.

    • Simply download the client from your platform’s store.

    • No platform exclusivity this time around.


What’s Included in the Beta

The focus is on multiplayer, with a level cap of around 30, giving players access to weapons, perks, and gear progression.


Maps (6v6 Core): Blackheart, Cortex, Exposure, Imprint, The Forge, Toshin

  • Plus: Training Course (movement practice) and Private Matches.


Modes:

  • New: Overload – an objective-based 6v6 mode where teams carry a device to enemy zones.

  • Classic: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint.


Weapons & Loadouts:

  • A mix of brand-new weapons and remastered classics from Black Ops 2 (e.g., M8A1 burst rifle, DSR-50 sniper).

  • Full customization options, including Primaries, Secondaries, Tacticals, Lethals, Perks, Field Upgrades, Wildcards, and the new Overclock System for gear enhancements.


Operators: Play as characters from JSOC and The Guild, including 50/50, Falkner, Jurado, Kagan, Mason, Vermaak, Wei Lin, and Zaveri.


Other Features:

  • No Scorestreaks in certain Face Off variants.

  • Full customization available in standard multiplayer modes.

  • Early chance to try the Omnimovement system and meta loadouts.


Beta Rewards

Players who join the beta can unlock exclusive cosmetics, all of which carry over to launch. Rewards are tied to playtime or level milestones.

Confirmed Rewards

  • Loading Screens: “Embrace the Nightmare”, “Beta Survivor”

  • Animated Calling Card: “Beta Conquerer”

  • Animated Emblem: “Beta Player”

  • Weapon Charm (unnamed)

  • Weapon Blueprint: M15 Mod AR – “Beta Legend”

  • Operator: Emma Kagan


Progression and Carryover

  • Carries Over: All beta-exclusive rewards (blueprints, operators, charms, cosmetics). These will also roll into BO7 Warzone when the season launches.

  • Resets: XP, levels, loadouts, and unlocked classes will be wiped after the beta.


This reset is standard practice for Call of Duty betas, ensuring a fair playing field at launch. However, hitting the level cap will still give players an early look at the game’s meta heading into release.
