Call of Duty: Warzone Tournament Returns to Esports World Cup with Resurgence Mode

The Esports World Cup is bringing Call of Duty: Warzone back to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2025—this time with even more action, thanks to the return of the Resurgence mode.

Unlike traditional battle royale, Resurgence mode allows players to respawn if teammates stay alive long enough to complete a countdown. That countdown speeds up as players move, loot, and score kills—making for a fast-paced, aggressive playstyle that fans have come to love.

Scoring System Favors the Bold

Teams will earn points based on eliminations and final placement, but the twist lies in the placement-based multipliers:

  • 🥇 1st place: 2x points

  • 🥈 2nd place: 1.7x points

  • 🥉 3rd–5th place: 1.4x points

  • 🔟 6th–10th place: 1.2x points

  • 11th–14th place: 1x points

Qualifiers Begin May 31

The open qualifiers kick off on May 31, 2025, with each round featuring:

  • 14 teams

  • 3 players per team

  • 2 matches per round

Only the top half of teams from each round will advance, based on cumulative performance.

From there, 28 teams will secure spots in the closed qualifier, where they'll face stiffer competition and higher stakes. While the exact date for the closed stage is still under wraps, it’s clear that the path to the main event will be tightly contested.
