The Esports World Cup 2025 has officially concluded in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with Team Falcons emerging as Club Championship winners, securing 5,200 points across 22 tournaments and walking away with the massive $7 million grand prize.
The victory was celebrated in style as Musaad AlDossar, CEO of Team Falcons, received the trophy from HRH Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, while football legend Cristiano Ronaldo delivered the trophy on stage during a spectacular Closing Ceremony.

Over seven weeks of intense competition, the Falcons dominated with strong finishes across multiple titles, including victories in Overwatch 2 and podium placements in Dota 2, Rocket League, PUBG BATTLEGROUNDS, Chess, and Counter-Strike 2. Heading into the last two weeks, the championship was still wide open, with seven teams in contention. However, Week 7 proved decisive when Team Liquid’s Street Fighter 6 player Alan “Nephew” Sun was eliminated, dashing their hopes of overtaking Falcons. From that moment, the Saudi-based organization sealed their back-to-back title.
Beyond competition, EWC 2025 broke records. The event saw 750 million total viewers, nearly 8 million peak concurrent viewers, and 350 million hours watched. On-site, Riyadh’s Boulevard City hosted 3 million visitors, including 300,000 international tourists — a 7.4% increase from last year, as reported by event organizers.
Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, called 2025 “a turning point,” emphasizing that the tournament is no longer just an ambitious idea but the foundation of a global sport. He added that 2026 will push the boundaries even further.
The numbers underline its scale: over 2,000 players from 100 countries, 200 clubs, and 25 tournaments made up a historic $70 million prize pool, the largest in esports history. Legendary performances, such as Magnus Carlsen winning the first-ever EWC Chess event, and 15-year-old Rasyah Rasyid becoming the youngest MVP, added to the drama and excitement.
Looking ahead, the organizers confirmed that the Esports World Cup will return to Riyadh for its third edition from July 6 – August 23, 2026.
