Destiny: Rising, a new mobile-exclusive sci-fi RPG shooter set in the Destiny universe, is officially launching on iOS and Android on August 28th.
The date was confirmed by NetEase Games, the Chinese developer behind titles like Marvel Rivals and Diablo Immortal, along with the release of a new gameplay trailer.
The trailer gives fans a solid look at what to expect—ranging from story-driven missions and co-op strikes to PvP combat and PvE encounters.
While it’s clearly set in the familiar Destiny universe, Destiny: Rising isn’t just a mobile port. Instead, it carves out its own path by taking place in an alternate timeline prior to the events of the original Destiny. That means newcomers can dive in without needing to catch up on the franchise’s complex lore, which is definitely a win for casual players.
The game originally made headlines when it was announced back in October 2024. It stems from a $100 million investment that NetEase made in Bungie back in 2018. That partnership now seems to be paying off in the form of a mobile game built from the ground up.
Players will be able to step into the shoes of Wolf, a customizable Lightbearer protagonist, or even iconic characters like Ikora Rey and Iron Lord Jolder.
There’s a mix of solo, co-op, and competitive multiplayer gameplay.
Players can also tinker with both Primary and Power Weapons, share gear between characters, and chase after new weapon types and a fresh “Mythic” rarity tier of equipment.
Now, pre-registration is open via Google Play and the App Store, and players who sign up early can claim exclusive in-game rewards. More bonus items will unlock as community registration milestones are hit.
