Switch Exclusive Disney Illusion Island Coming to PlayStation 5 This May

Disney Illusion Island

Disney Illusion Island, a charming 2D side-scrolling adventure featuring Mickey Mouse and friends, is expanding beyond Nintendo Switch. After nearly two years as a Switch exclusive, the game will launch on PlayStation 5 on May 30, according to information discovered by dataminers.

According to Gematsu, PSDeals.net had scraped a PlayStation Store listing for "Disney Illusion Island Starring Mickey and Friends" with the May release date. While this expansion to PlayStation is now confirmed, there's currently no word on whether the game will also make its way to Xbox or PC platforms.

The PS5 version will include the base game plus several updates: the Keeper Up, Mystery in Monoth, and a brand new C.A.S.H. update featuring Scrooge McDuck. This comprehensive package provides players with all the content released following the game's launch on Switch in July 2023.

In Disney Illusion Island, players can choose to play as one of four iconic Disney characters: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, or Goofy. The gameplay involves navigating through challenging levels, avoiding enemies, and completing quests across the mysterious island of Monoth. As players progress through the adventure, they unlock new abilities and gain access to more areas of the map.

The game's story centers around the characters' quest to recover three mystical books to save the world from disaster. This family-friendly adventure includes a local co-op for up to four players, making it ideal for parents and children to enjoy together.

Developed by Dlala Studios, Disney Illusion Island drew inspiration from the popular platformer Rayman Legends. The game received mixed but generally positive reviews upon its initial Switch release, earning a 73 Metacritic score. Nintendo-focused gaming outlets were particularly complimentary of the title.

While pricing for the PlayStation 5 version hasn't been officially announced, the game currently sells for $39.99 on the Nintendo eShop, which likely indicates a similar price point for the PS5 release.

According to the PSDeals listing, the PS5 version will be available digitally through the PlayStation Store starting May 30, 2025, though physical release details remain unknown at this time.
