That is a seriously stacked lineup. Cailee Spaeny leads the cast, having previously worked with Garland on Civil War. She was first rumoured to be in talks for the project back in 2025. Joining her are Ben Whishaw, widely known as Q in the recent James Bond films and the beloved voice of Paddington, and Kit Connor, who starred alongside Garland in Warfare.

The film is also set to be shot in IMAX, which signals just how big of a theatrical experience A24 is aiming for.

No character details have been revealed yet.

George R. R. Martin, who helped develop the world of Elden Ring alongside FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki, is on board as a producer.

As per reports, Alex Garland reportedly wrote a 160-page script and presented it to FromSoftware to earn the studio's blessing before the project was greenlit. Garland is no stranger to the game either, having played Elden Ring upwards of seven times. He also has prior history with the games industry, having co-written Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and served as a story supervisor on DmC: Devil May Cry.

Elden Ring was originally released in 2022 and went on to become a massive success, selling over 30 million copies worldwide and winning over 400 Game of the Year awards, per Bandai Namco. The game was followed by the DLC Shadow of the Erdtree and the multiplayer spin-off Nightreign.

Filming locations near London have already started making their rounds online, with fans spotting what appears to be a Church of Marika from the game, set against green landscapes that suggest the Limgrave region.
