Enshrouded Reaches 4 Million Players, Major Update Coming in May

The action RPG survival game Enshrouded has officially surpassed four million players in Early Access, marking a major milestone for German developer Keen Games.

The voxel-based co-op title has seen rapid growth since launching in January 2024, proving that there’s still strong demand for deep crafting systems and immersive survival gameplay—even in a year crowded with heavyweight releases.

Originally debuting just a week after the surprise mega-hit Palworld, Enshrouded quickly gained traction, attracting over one million players within the first four days of release. Now, with over four million adventurers having stepped into its mysterious, fog-shrouded world, the game continues to build on its momentum with regular updates and strong community engagement.

Creative Director Antony Christoulakis expressed enthusiasm for achievement:

“It’s been nearly 15 months since we began this journey, and the feedback from players has been almost overwhelming. We’re constantly listening and evolving based on what the community wants.”

What’s Next: “Thralls of Twilight” Update Coming May 2025

To keep the player base engaged, Keen Games has announced a major content update titled “Thralls of Twilight,” set to arrive in May 2025. This update will introduce:

• New enemies and increased Shroud danger levels

• A weapon customization system powered by craftable gems

• An enhanced nighttime cycle, featuring roaming enemy groups and nighttime-exclusive rewards

Players will also be able to craft, customize, and deconstruct weapons, offering more control over combat strategy and gear loadouts. As the devs tease: “What will you find in the dark before it finds you?”

Sustained Momentum and Daily Players

Even months after its Early Access launch, Enshrouded maintains a healthy player base, with over 15,000 daily concurrent players on Steam. While its peak of 160,000 concurrent players at launch doesn’t rival Palworld‘s historic 2.1 million, Enshrouded has carved out a solid, dedicated community of survival RPG fans.

A Glimpse Into the Future

The team recently unveiled a 2025 roadmap detailing more than 36 new features planned for the game, including:

• Base Raid Islands (Co-op)

• Creative Mode

• User-generated content tools

• Three new biomes

• Enhanced enemy AI and new gameplay mechanics

Enshrouded also earned critical recognition at the German Developer Awards 2024, winning multiple categories, including Game of the Year (GOTY).

Currently available in Early Access on PC via Steam, the full version of Enshrouded is expected to launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC in Spring 2026.
