ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) has purchased North American analytics platform Mobalytics in a move to expand its esports business.
Founded in 2016, Mobalytics has grown into a leading platform that helps gamers improve their skills through data analysis and personalized advice. The platform supports popular games like League of Legends, Marvel Rivals, and Destiny 2. Its standout feature, the Gamer Performance Index (GPI), tracks players' in-game statistics and offers tailored recommendations to enhance their gameplay.
According to Esports Insider, Mobalytics will continue to operate independently while EFG looks for ways to integrate its analytics capabilities into existing products. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
"This acquisition is part of our plan to expand our digital portfolio," EFG stated in their release. The company sees potential in combining Mobalytics' advanced analytics with their tournament organizing expertise.
The purchase opens doors for EFG to collaborate with companies that have previously partnered with Mobalytics. These include prominent names in the gaming industry such as Bungie (developer of Destiny 2), as well as major esports organizations like T1 and Team Liquid.
Mobalytics has established itself as particularly valuable in the League of Legends community. Its tools provide in-depth analysis that helps players understand their strengths and weaknesses. This timing is significant as the 2025 League of Legends season is currently underway, with its inaugural First Stand event showing promising viewership numbers.
This acquisition follows EFG's pattern of strategic expansion in the esports industry. In 2023, the company acquired Vindex, an esports technology and infrastructure company. EFG also secured partnerships with computer maker Acer and data company Bayes Esports last year.
For those who don't know, The ESL FACEIT Group was formed through the acquisition of ESL Gaming and FACEIT by Savvy Gaming Group, a company backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). This deal took place in January 2022 and was valued at $1.5 billion. Savvy Gaming Group purchased ESL for $1.05 billion and FACEIT for $500 million, merging the two into a single entity known as the ESL FACEIT Group.
