The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) has launched its "Road to EWC" campaign, revealing how players can qualify for the 2025 tournament in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This massive esports event will take place from July 7th to August 24th, featuring more than 200 tournaments worldwide.
The qualification system aims to give players of all skill levels a chance to compete on the global stage.
According to EWCF, the 2025 tournament will include 24 different game titles, with Chess, Crossfire, FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, and VALORANT being the newest additions. The prize pool has grown to an impressive $70 million, which is $10 million more than last year's event.
"Road to EWC is a platform for every player, Club, and community whose journey defines the spirit of competition," said Faisal Bin Homran, Chief Product Officer of the Esports World Cup Foundation. "By connecting hundreds of tournaments across the world, we are creating life-changing opportunities for players at every level."
The qualification process varies depending on the game. Popular titles like League of Legends, VALORANT, Overwatch 2, and Apex Legends will use official publisher leagues as their main qualification path.
Games such as Dota 2, Teamfight Tactics, and Starcraft II will feature open online qualifiers that anyone can enter.
For fighting game fans, community tournaments like EVO Japan, Combo Breaker, and CEO will serve as qualifiers for games including Street Fighter 6, TEKKEN 8, and Fatal Fury.
Mobile games will have their own region-specific leagues, sending the best players from each area to the main event.
The EWCF has also planned Last Chance Qualifiers right before the tournament starts. These will give players one final opportunity to earn a spot in games like Chess, Overwatch 2, and EA SPORTS FC 25.
Of the $70 million prize pool, $27 million will go toward the EWC Club Championship. This gives esports organizations an additional financial incentive during the competitive season, supporting the tournament's goal of creating sustainable growth in the industry.
The 2025 Esports World Cup will bring together more than 2,000 professional players and 200 top esports clubs from around the world. As Bin Homran explained, the Road to EWC is "about empowering players, Clubs, and communities to be part of something bigger."
Tickets for the Esports World Cup 2025 are already available through the official website.
