Sony’s upcoming title Fairgames has not been canceled, despite a wave of rumors suggesting otherwise. The speculation started after well-known analyst Michael Pachter claimed the game was scrapped, but he has since clarified that he “misspoke” on the matter.

In a quote shared by ex-IGN editor Destin Legarie, Pachter explained: “I misspoke. Said Jade was let go, and assumed it was cancelled. I have no info on the game at all. Feel free to quote this, I truly don’t know.”

For those who may not have been following closely, Fairgames is a co-op heist shooter from Haven Studio, a Canadian developer founded by industry veteran Jade Raymond. PlayStation acquired the studio in 2022, marking it as one of its key bets on live service titles.

However, Raymond left Haven earlier this year, sparking questions about the game’s future. Reports at the time suggested that Sony gathered feedback through an early alpha test, and the response was largely negative. This feedback reportedly led to internal shake-ups at the studio, which only fueled doubts about the project’s stability.

The cancellation rumor can be traced back to Pachter’s own comments during his Pachter Factor podcast. While discussing Sony’s live service strategy, he linked Raymond’s departure with the fate of Fairgames, stating that it had been canceled.

However, it’s now clear that Pachter's initial remarks were more of an assumption than an insider scoop. As of now, there is no confirmation that Fairgames has been shut down. The game was previously delayed from its initial 2025 release window to 2026, but is still in development for PlayStation 5 and PC.

That said, the project is undeniably facing challenges. Sony has already seen setbacks in its live service push, with Concord being canceled and The Last of Us Online shelved. Critics believe that Fairgames could still be vulnerable if progress remains rocky.
