Bully is making a comeback, not through Rockstar Games, but thanks to a passionate community that has built a brand-new online mode.

It’s been nearly twenty years since Bully first launched. The game dropped us into the life of Jimmy Hopkins, a rebellious teen navigating the chaos of Bullworth Academy. The game stood out for its humor, storytelling, and unique setting, and while it became a cult classic, it never received a sequel. Fans have been asking for one ever since, but Rockstar has remained silent, choosing instead to focus on bigger projects like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption.
Now, the community has stepped in. A group of fans led by YouTuber SWEGTA, known for his dedication to the series, has announced the Bully Online mod. Revealed on October 27, 2025, this ambitious project will first roll out to supporters in December before a wider release in 2026.
So, what exactly does this mod bring to the table? Much like GTA RP servers, Bully Online emphasizes roleplaying. You’ll be able to live out your own life in a fictional New England setting, taking on jobs, earning money, and even buying property. The mod also introduces a fleshed-out inventory system, letting you carry items and prepare for whatever trouble comes your way, whether that’s a rival student or a street thug. Of course, classic activities like boxing and go-kart racing are still part of the experience, but the new roleplay mechanics add a fresh layer of depth.
SWEGTA explained that the project has been in the works for a long time, with a “small team of passionate fans” making it possible. “A lot of the things we thought were impossible just a few years ago can now be done,” he said, highlighting how far modding tools have come.
This revival comes at a time when Rockstar itself has no plans to revisit the franchise. In fact, co-founder Dan Houser recently revealed at LA Comic Con that a sequel never happened due to what he called “bandwidth issues.” With a small leadership team, Rockstar simply couldn’t take on every project, and Bully 2 fell by the wayside.
For fans, though, this online mod is the closest thing to a sequel we’ve had in nearly two decades. It’s a chance to return to Bullworth’s world in a way that feels new, interactive, and community-driven. And with GTA 6 set to launch on May 26, 2026, it’s clear Rockstar’s attention is elsewhere.
