Fortnite’s next big update (v36.10) is landing on June 18, and it’s shaping up to be a content-packed send-off before Epic Games goes on its annual summer break. While there won't be major updates for about a month after this, the June patch brings plenty to keep players entertained across all game modes.
Two New Modes
One of the most anticipated additions is Blitz Royale, a brand-new game mode designed with mobile players in mind—but fully available across all platforms with crossplay. This mode trims the traditional Battle Royale format into fast-paced, five-minute matches with up to 32 players, giving it a “rogue-like” twist.

Players drop in with a random weapon and Medallion, and the objective is to increase their "Blitz Level" through eliminations and surviving the storm. As players level up, they gain access to stronger loot and unique power-ups known as Boons, which can give them the upper hand.
Blitz Royale will run as a limited-time mode from June 18 to July 15, with a weekly loot pool rotation to keep things fresh:
June 18–24: Mythic weapons (e.g., Rocket Ram)
June 24–July 1: Avatar Mythics (e.g., Water Bending)
July 1–8: Mythic Boss Weapons (e.g., Thorne’s Vampiric Blade)
July 8–15: TMNT-themed melee weapons

While Blitz Royale focuses on rapid-fire competition, the update also brings something new for co-op and creative mode fans with the introduction of LEGO Fortnite Expeditions. This is the third major LEGO-themed mode following LEGO Odyssey and LEGO Brick Life, but this one leans into mission-based PvE gameplay for up to four players. It’s been likened to a mix of Fortnite’s original “Save the World” and Helldivers, offering a more action-adventure vibe.
Players begin at Supernova Academy, where they can squad up and select from three upgradable hero classes:
Shadow Caller: Can fly, launch explosive attacks, and enter Shadow Form.
The Hunter: Wields a Bull's-eye Blade, enhancing team damage.
Rift Ripper: Capable of warping, shooting rift crystals, and buffing allies.
Missions take place in varied locations like Utopia City, Spire Excavation Site, and Busted Bridge. Successful runs contribute to global Team Projects, unlocking buffs and new mission types. In between missions, players can explore the Academy, upgrade their gear, and interact with NPCs for additional quests and rewards like XP, ability points, and decor items.
Notably, Expeditions ties directly into Fortnite’s current superhero-themed Chapter 6 Season 3, featuring a storyline that connects with the main Battle Royale narrative. Players will take on villains like Mask Maker Daigo while joining forces with familiar Fortnite faces such as Jonesy and Hope. Epic Games has hinted that future updates may allow Expeditions to evolve alongside the seasonal Battle Royale content.
What's More
Elsewhere, the update adds new Super Styles for Battle Pass owners, and players who previously missed out can now unlock Superman. There’s also mention of a new mini-event in the pipeline, although details remain under wraps for now.
Over in Fortnite Festival, Season 9 kicks off with Bruno Mars as the main headliner. New skins, emotes, and a Music Pass are available in the Item Shop for music lovers to collect.

Meanwhile, Fortnite Ballistic—the team-based action mode introduced earlier—gets a makeover with a fresh map, expanded weapon selection, and a new warm-up lobby for players to get into the groove before the action begins.
Korean-themed content is being introduced into the battle royale game, as announced earlier this month. Soccer star Son Heung-Min's Icon Series Skin will be available in the Item Shop on June 21. Additionally, a Squid Game collaboration is set to arrive later this month, coinciding with the release of Season 3 on Netflix.

Even though Epic’s team will be on summer break, the game won’t go completely quiet. Weekly challenges will still be updated regularly, ensuring players can continue grinding XP to complete their Battle Passes.
