NetEase Games and Bad Guitar Studio have announced the full lineup of content for FragPunk Season 2, titled Rising Tempest, which will go live on June 26, 2025.
This new chapter in the free-to-play 5v5 hero shooter introduces a fresh Lancer, two creative maps, an expanded set of Shard Cards, and several system upgrades designed to shake up gameplay in bold new ways.
New Lancer: Hurricane
Hurricane is a storm-chasing anthropomorphic polar bear Lancer with a high-utility kit focused on crowd control and disruption.
Abilities:
Cyclone Storm: Described as a "Hold FIRE to summon a mighty storm," this ability allows Hurricane to create a powerful storm effect. It holds the position of the targeted area, dealing damage over time to enemies within it. This suggests a control-oriented ability that can zone enemies and provide area denial.
Branching Lightning: This ability involves "Fire a surge of plasma that splits into electric chains," which can blind enemies again after a brief delay. This indicates a combination of damage and crowd control, with the potential to disorient opponents, adding a tactical layer to engagements.
Heroic Onslaught: Labeled as "Electrify yourself, greatly increasing movement speed and causing nearby enemies to take more damage," this ability enhances Hurricane's mobility and turns him into a threat up close, amplifying damage output against nearby foes.

New Maps
The second season is also expanding FragPunk’s map roster with two brand-new locations, each crafted to enhance different core gameplay modes.
Itzamna is FragPunk’s inaugural sky-port arena. Perched above the clouds, this battlefield introduces aerial combat with zipline mechanics and fragmented walkways that challenge your navigation skills mid-fight. It’s not just a pretty view—it’s chaos in the sky.
Xibalba is a dense rainforest prison map designed for the Outbreak mode. Inspired by Mesoamerican ruins, it mixes overgrown foliage with decaying structures, making it the game’s most intense and maze-like terrain yet.
Shard Cards Get a Shake-Up
One of FragPunk’s most distinctive features—the Shard Card system—is getting a serious boost in Season 2. Approximately 50 new cards will be introduced throughout the season, released in bi-weekly waves. This ensures the meta stays fresh and forces players to constantly adapt.
Some standout cards include:
Rigged Duels – One player from each team enters the arena ahead of others.
Blind Fire Healing – Gain 3 HP when enemy bullets graze you.
Converter Thievery – Defenders can steal and reposition the converter mid-match.
The developers have also revamped how cards are distributed. New mode-specific pools like “Shard Clash” and “Outbreak” are being added to streamline matchmaking strategies. Plus, boosted drop rates during early releases will make it easier for players to get their hands on the latest additions. These changes come in response to community feedback, aiming to make the system more dynamic and accessible.
Permanent Modes & Improved Matchmaking
Season 2 isn’t just about new content—it’s about quality-of-life improvements too. The fan-favorite Chaos Clash mode is now a permanent fixture, and Mirror Mode is coming back with upgraded tech and its own set of leaderboards.
Even better, players can now queue for any mode at any time, thanks to the removal of rotation restrictions. The outdated arcade rotation system has also been retired, giving everyone permanent access to all arcade modes.
