Game Informer, one of the most well-known gaming magazines, is officially making a comeback after shutting down in August 2024. Thanks to Gunzilla Games, the publication is returning with its entire editorial and production team intact, ensuring that its legacy continues without missing a beat.
A Fresh Start With Gunzilla Games
In a heartfelt blog post, Game Informer’s Editor-in-Chief, Matt Miller, shared the exciting news that Gunzilla Games had acquired the magazine from GameStop. More importantly, the new owners have made it clear that Game Informer will remain completely independent, allowing the team to continue covering gaming without outside interference.
For those unfamiliar, Gunzilla Games is the developer behind the battle royale game Off the Grid and the blockchain-powered gaming ecosystem GunZ. The company’s leadership includes District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp, who serves as chief creative officer and co-founder.
What’s Next for Game Informer?
Now, with this revival, the magazine’s extensive online archive is back, and the editorial team has already published reviews of games released during their hiatus. Plus, the Best of 2024 awards are live for readers to check out.
One of the biggest announcements is the return of the print magazine, though it won’t be available immediately.
In addition, Game Informer is rolling out new membership and subscription perks, including exclusive video content, streaming features, and insights from industry experts.
