Obsidian Entertainment’s Grounded 2 is officially set to launch in Early Access on July 29, 2025, and now we have all the details — from the exact release time to pricing and content across its editions. The sequel brings back the miniature survival adventure fans loved, but with a much bigger map, more gameplay features, and even bug-riding mounts.

Grounded 2 Global Release Timing

The game will go live simultaneously across all supported platforms on July 29 at 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET. That means international players will get access later in the day, or on July 30 depending on their time zone.

Here's a quick look at a few notable launch times globally:

  • Seattle – 10:00 AM PDT (July 29)

  • Mexico City – 11:00 AM CST (July 29)

  • New York / Montréal – 1:00 PM EDT (July 29)

  • São Paulo – 2:00 PM KST (July 29)

  • London – 6:00 PM BST (July 29)

  • Berlin / Paris – 7:00 PM CEST (July 29)

  • Tokyo / Seoul – 2:00 AM JST/KST (July 30)

  • Auckland– 5:00 AM NZST (July 30)

Platforms and Game Pass Availability

Grounded 2 will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (via Xbox App and Steam), and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Players subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate ($19.99/month) or PC Game Pass ($11.99/month) can play the game at launch.

However, it’s important to note that Xbox Game Pass Standard ($14.99/month), the newly introduced console-only tier, will not include Grounded 2 at launch since it excludes day-one access to first-party titles.

The game also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing for cross-progression between Xbox and PC.

Early Access Features and What's New

Although launching in Early Access, Grounded 2 offers significantly more content than the original game did at its full release. The game continues its backyard survival theme with a large new location called Brookhollow Park, which will start with 20% of its map available — a space as large as the entire map from the first Grounded. Additional areas will unlock in future updates.

Players can expect deeper RPG progression, expanded base-building, and new crafting systems. Plus, Obsidian is adding rideable bug mounts called “Buggies.” At launch, you’ll be able to tame and ride ant soldiers and orb weaver spiders, with more creatures planned for future updates.

Editions and Pricing Breakdown

There are two main editions of Grounded 2 available when it hits Early Access:

Standard Edition – $29.99 USD

  • Includes the base game

  • Comes with the Tools of Yore decorative item set (free for all players)

Founder’s Edition – $39.99 USD

  • Includes everything in the Standard Edition

  • Adds four premium character skins (Minotaur, Myrmidon, Rogue, Mant) with custom emotes

  • Features the ONYX-PRO, Inside the Game digital artbook, and soundtrack

  • Founder’s Pack content will evolve throughout Early Access

If you start with the Standard Edition or play via Game Pass, you can still upgrade to the Founder’s Edition content with a $9.99 Founder’s Pack. None of the additional items affect gameplay or progression — they’re purely cosmetic or collectible.

No Collector’s Edition or Pre-Order Bonus

Unlike the original game’s Fully Yoked Edition, there won’t be a physical Collector’s Edition for Grounded 2. Pre-orders aren’t being offered either, but players can wishlist the game on Steam or the Microsoft Store ahead of launch.

Accessibility and Quality-of-Life Features

Obsidian is also continuing its commitment to accessibility. Grounded 2 will support Arachnophobia Safe Mode, colorblind options, and more settings to make gameplay comfortable for a wider audience. All players will also receive the Tools of Yore item set as a thank-you from the developers.

With Grounded 2, Obsidian is clearly building on what made the first game a hit while bringing new systems, a larger world, and cross-platform integration into the mix. The addition of rideable bugs and a fleshed-out progression system is bound to make this a standout Early Access launch when it drops on July 29.
