Grand Theft Auto 6 is shaping up to be not just another major game launch, but potentially the biggest entertainment release in history. According to projections by Konvoy, a venture capital firm focused on gaming investments, GTA 6 could generate a staggering $2 billion in revenue within just 24 hours of launch, and hit $7.6 billion within its first 60 days on the market.
The numbers might sound extreme at first glance, but when you consider Rockstar’s track record — especially with GTA 5 — these predictions start to make a lot more sense. Back in 2013, GTA 5 earned $815 million in its first day, selling over 11 million copies. Just three days later, it crossed the $1 billion mark, becoming the fastest-selling entertainment product across any medium at the time.
Fast forward to 2026: Konvoy expects GTA 6 to launch on May 26, 2026, and predicts that it will sell 25 million copies on day one alone, thanks in large part to pent-up fan demand and years of hype. The projected $80 price point — which is still unconfirmed by Rockstar — plays a role in this high revenue estimate, although other price points ranging from $70 to $112 have also been floated in speculation.
Konvoy’s analysis doesn’t stop at launch day figures. By the end of the first week, GTA 6 is expected to reach 40 million copies sold, and within 60 days, that number could climb to 85 million. This wouldn’t just be from game sales alone — revenue from GTA+ subscriptions and in-game purchases is expected to significantly boost the total.
The firm estimates that each player will spend roughly $20 monthly on microtransactions, which could help Rockstar rake in the projected $7.6 billion in just two months. This figure would nearly quadruple the game’s estimated development and marketing budget, which reportedly sits around $2 billion, according to earlier reporting.
These predictions were shared by Josh Chapman, a partner at Konvoy, who referred to GTA 6 as potentially “the greatest video game release of all time.” He also hinted at a much bigger online experience this time around, with 200-player lobbies, more intense risk-reward gameplay, and a significant user-generated content component to keep players and modders engaged long after launch.
The excitement surrounding GTA 6 has been nothing short of electric. Trailers for the game have already broken YouTube viewership records, underlining the intense global anticipation. And with Rockstar having been tight-lipped about the game’s full feature list and pricing, speculation continues to fuel interest — and likely, preorders too.
