Honkai Star Rail and Fate/stay night Collaboration Launching July 11 with Free Character

Honkai Star Rail and Fatestay night Collab

Honkai Star Rail players will soon enjoy a special crossover event with the popular anime series Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]. The collaboration will begin on July 11, 2025, bringing two famous characters from the anime into the game.

During the Honkai Star Rail second anniversary concert livestream on May 4, developer HoYoverse finally revealed the details about this long-awaited collaboration. Fans were treated to an exciting teaser showing Saber using her famous Excalibur attack, building anticipation for the upcoming event.

The collaboration, officially named "Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail," will feature two beloved 5-star characters from Fate/stay night: Saber and Archer. What makes this event even more special is that players can get Archer completely free just by logging into the game between July 11 and the end of Version 3.6 in September.

According to HoYoverse, Saber will be a Wind element character following the Path of Destruction. Her ultimate ability will likely feature her iconic Excalibur attack that was showcased in the teaser. Meanwhile, Archer will be a Quantum element character following the Path of the Hunt.

To obtain Saber, players will need to use Star Rail Special Passes on a Special Collaboration Warp that will be available "over a long period of time." This Special Collaboration Warp will have its own independent counter for pity and guaranteed drops. This means players cannot carry over their pull count from other banners, so saving up Special Passes starting now would be wise for those wanting to add Saber to their collection.

The collaboration isn't just about new characters. Players will also enjoy a special in-game event called the "Penaconian Holy Grail War." During this event, the Trailblazer will join the battle for the Holy Grail by summoning Heroic Spirits, using Command Seals, wielding Noble Phantasms, and trying different character classes to win strategic battles.

The artwork released shows silhouettes of Honkai Star Rail characters like Aventurine, Boothill, and Robin, suggesting they will play roles as Servants in the Holy Grail War event.

What makes this collaboration even more special is the involvement of the original Fate series creators. HoYoverse worked closely with Takashi Takeuchi and Kinoko Nasu, co-founders of Type-Moon studio. Takeuchi, who designed the original Fate/stay night characters, created the concept designs for both Archer and Saber in Honkai Star Rail. Nasu, the writer of the original story, supervised the creation of the collaboration's storyline.

This collaboration comes as Honkai Star Rail celebrates its second anniversary, showing the game's continued commitment to bringing fresh content to players. The announcement was made during the Honkai Star Rail Concert 2025 on May 3, where HoYoverse also teased an upcoming new game in the Honkai series.

Players can look forward to more specific information about the Fate/stay night collaboration as the July 11 release date approaches. In the meantime, Version 3.3 of Honkai Star Rail is expected to arrive around May 20, giving players plenty of content to enjoy before the collaboration begins.
