KRAFTON has announced a donation of 1.236 billion won (around $1 million) to help areas hit by wildfires in the Yeongnam region of South Korea. The company is working together with PUBG STUDIOS on this relief effort.

The gaming company emphasized that the wildfire damage is a crisis requiring a united community response. According to Chosun, KRAFTON's contribution represents the largest donation from any gaming company.

The relief fund comes from two main sources. First, KRAFTON employees participated in a fundraising campaign that the company then matched. Second, users of the popular game "PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS" contributed through PUBG STUDIOS.

KRAFTON's employee fundraising campaign ran for 11 days, starting on the 26th of last month. This campaign used the company's matching grant program, which has been operating since 2021. Under this program, KRAFTON matches any donations made voluntarily by its staff. By the campaign's end on the 6th of this month, 481 employees had participated, including Chairman Jang Byeong-kyu and CEO Kim Chang-han.

The donated funds will provide direct support to areas and residents affected by the wildfires. Part of the money will go through The Promise, a nonprofit organization specializing in disaster social welfare, to deliver essential relief supplies to victims. The remainder will go to the Gyeongbuk Community Chest to support three key areas: youth and children, daily life recovery for victims, and reconstruction efforts in the hardest-hit regions.

This is not KRAFTON's first time helping during disasters. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, KRAFTON donated 1 billion won for prevention measures and relief supplies. In 2023, the company provided approximately 126 million won to help earthquake-affected regions in Turkey.
