Looks like League of Legends might be getting the live-action treatment!

Vietnam's Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism recently met with Riot Games execs to discuss a 9-episode TV series based on the iconic MOBA.

The Vietnamese government confirmed the meeting in a Facebook post, stating that Minister Nguyen Van Hung sat down with Riot representatives and a film crew scouting for potential locations.

The production team is eyeing Cát Bà, a stunning archipelago of 367 islands off Vietnam's southeastern coast. According to Dexerto, this location choice suggests the series might be set in either Bilgewater or the Shadow Isles regions of the League of Legends universe.

Hollywood talent on board? Yes, please!

Big-name producer Rose Lam, who worked on the hit "The Last of Us" TV series, has joined the project. With her experience, this could be Riot’s biggest live-action project yet, possibly on par with Arcane in terms of production value.

Another big name, Nicholas Simon, is also involved, bringing significant experience from his past projects such as The Creator (2023), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Meg 2: The Trench (2023).

Filming is planned for late 2025, but negotiations are still ongoing to ensure compliance with Vietnam's environmental and safety laws.

This move marks a big shift for Riot’s media strategy. After Arcane's second season wrapped up in November 2024, Riot is now diving into live-action while continuing to expand its animation efforts

The company has already confirmed three new animated League of Legends shows, covering Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia. One of these has reportedly been in pre-production for about a year.

And if that’s not enough, there are even rumors of a Valorant movie—though Riot hasn’t said anything official yet.

Meanwhile, Riot is also busy developing "2XKO," a fighting game featuring LoL characters, pushing the franchise into yet another genre.

Exciting times ahead for League fans!
