Lost Soul Aside Delayed to August 29, 2025: Devs Say More Polish Needed

Lost Soul Aside, the long-awaited action RPG from Chinese studio Ultizero Games, has officially been delayed from May 30 to August 29, 2025.
The announcement came via the game’s social media channels, where CEO Yang Bing explained the decision.
“We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience,” Bing said. “To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game.”
A Decade in the Making
Originally started as a solo project by Yang Bing in 2014, Lost Soul Aside quickly captured global attention when its first gameplay trailer dropped in July 2016. Inspired by Final Fantasy XV, Bing’s one-man effort went viral, eventually leading to the game being picked up by Sony’s China Hero Project in 2017. This support allowed Bing to form Ultizero Games and build a full development team.
In 2021, Tencent acquired a minority stake in the studio, bringing in additional resources to expand the project even further.
Hack ‘n’ Slash in a Soulslike World
While many modern action games lean toward the Soulslike formula, Lost Soul Aside offers a different experience. The game features fast-paced, combo-heavy combat, reminiscent of Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy, with a focus on aerial dodging, weapon transformations, and stylish counters.
Players take control of Kesar, a sword-wielding protagonist who’s accompanied by Arena, a dragon-like creature that can assist in battle. Trailers have showcased a range of high-speed movement mechanics, dramatic boss fights, and interdimensional world designs that blend science fiction with fantasy.
Delay Could Work in Its Favor
While the delay may disappoint fans, the timing might actually benefit Lost Soul Aside. Its original release date would have placed it in direct competition with Elden Ring: Nightreign, a co-op spinoff from FromSoftware set to launch the same day. By shifting to late August, the game gains breathing room in a packed release calendar.
When Lost Soul Aside finally arrives on August 29, 2025, it will release worldwide on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
