Marathon December Community Playtest Announced: Dates, Platforms, and How to Join

Bungie has announced the next Playtest for Marathon, following October’s Closed Technical Test.

The Marathon December Community Playtest will run from December 12 to December 15, 2025, with sessions open daily between 2 PM PT and 8 PM PT.

If you’re in North America, you’ll be able to try the latest build across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Unfortunately, players outside the region will need to wait for future opportunities, as this test is region‑locked.

Like the earlier technical test, this playtest is covered by a strict NDA. That means you won’t be able to stream, record, or share your gameplay publicly. Feedback and bug reports will only be accepted through Bungie’s official Discord channels, where invited players will gain access to NDA‑protected sections.

If you’re wondering how to know if you’ve been invited, Bungie will send official emails in waves throughout the test. Participation in past alphas or closed sessions doesn’t guarantee entry; you’ll need to apply again.

How to Apply

There are two ways to sign up:

• Official Website: Head to Bungie’s playtest page, log in with your platform account, and complete the form.

• Discord Method: Join the official Marathon Discord, use the /playtest command in the #playtest_access channel, and connect your Bungie.net account through the generated link.

Invites are tied to your Bungie.net and Discord accounts, so they can’t be shared with friends or family. Access to the NDA Discord sections may take up to 24 hours to update once roles are assigned.

• PC Minimum Specs: Intel Core i5‑6600, GTX 1050 Ti, 8 GB RAM, Windows 10 64‑bit.

What’s Next for Marathon

While Bungie is opening the doors for more players to experience the game, there’s still no confirmed release date. Reports suggest Marathon could launch by March 2026, but Sony has yet to make an official announcement.
