Bungie Confirms Marathon Release Date, Pre-Orders, and Editions

After months of speculation, Bungie has finally confirmed the release date for Marathon, its upcoming extraction shooter set in a dark sci-fi universe.


The game will officially launch on March 5, 2026, across Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with full cross-play and cross-save support.


Pre-orders are live now, offering multiple editions and exclusive rewards for both Marathon and Destiny 2 players.


Pre-Order Bonuses

Pre-ordering any edition of Marathon grants a set of cosmetic rewards:

  • ZERO STEP 004 CE Tactical Sidearm Style

  • ZERO STEP RC Weapon Charm

  • ZERO STEP SHIFT Weapon Sticker

  • APOGEE INTERCEPT Background

  • APOGEE INTERCEPT Emblem


For Destiny 2 fans, linking your Bungie.net  account unlocks additional crossover items:

  • UESC Echo-type Shell Exotic Ghost

  • UESC Rover Exotic Ship

  • UESC Sprinter Exotic Sparrow


These items will be available at the Special Deliveries terminal in Destiny 2’s Tower once the game launches.

Players can choose from three editions, each offering different levels of content and collectibles:

Destiny 2 Celebration Items

To celebrate the announcement, Bungie is offering free Destiny 2 cosmetics starting January 20:

  • Modern MIDA Multitool Ornament for the Exotic weapon

  • Silkworm Weave Legendary Shader in Marathon-themed green

  • Waiting For Exfil Multiplayer Emote


These freebies will be available in a single bundle from the Eververse Store after the weekly reset.


Special Hardware

Bungie also revealed limited-edition peripherals launching alongside Marathon. Starting January 29, fans can pre-order:

  • DualSense Controller ($84.99)

  • Pulse Elite Wireless Headset ($169.99)
