Naughty Dog Working on Second Game Alongside Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann has confirmed that a second game is currently in development at the studio, alongside their already announced sci-fi action-adventure title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Speaking on the Press X To Continue podcast, Druckmann shared that while he’s the writer and creative director for Intergalactic, he’s taking on a different role for this mystery project. 

“There is another game at Naughty Dog being worked on, and I am more of a producer role and get to mentor and watch this other team, give feedback, and be like the executive in the room,” he explained.

This confirmation lines up with rumors from earlier this year. Back in March, a leak suggested that an unannounced game had already been in development for about three years.

Way back in 2023, Naughty Dog canceled The Last of Us Online and hinted at having “more than one ambitious, brand-new single player game” in the works. Now, it’s clear those projects are still very much alive.

While Druckmann didn’t spill the beans on what this second game actually is, that hasn’t stopped fans and insiders from speculating. It’s probably not The Last of Us Part III—Druckmann himself told fans, “Don’t bet on there being more,” walking back earlier teases of a continuation.

Some industry chatter suggests that Shaun Escayg could be leading this mystery title. Escayg, who previously worked on both The Last of Us and Uncharted, returned to Naughty Dog in 2021 after a stint as creative director for Marvel’s Avengers. He also directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy back in 2017.

There’s also talk of a potential new Uncharted game, possibly starring Cassie Drake, daughter of series lead Nathan Drake. With Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End wrapping up the main storyline in 2016, there’s definitely room for new adventures in that universe.

As for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, it was officially announced in December and is expected to release sometime around 2027. Druckmann also recently confirmed that another actor from The Last of Us TV show has joined the cast of the new game, though he hasn’t said who just yet.
