Netflix has surpassed 342 million lifetime mobile game downloads since it entered the gaming space in August 2021, according to data estimates from Appmagic (via Mobilegamer.biz).

Leading the pack by a wide margin is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which launched on the platform in December 2023 and has amassed over 48 million installs. It was part of the GTA Trilogy release, which also included GTA III and Vice City, all remastered and made available to Netflix subscribers on Android and iOS.

However, Rockstar’s GTA: Vice City, once in the top ranks, has now been removed from the service as part of Netflix’s ongoing catalog pruning efforts, a move that also saw GTA III delisted in December 2024.

GTA: San Andreas still remains available (at least for now), so if you're looking to relive some Grove Street nostalgia on mobile, you're still in luck.

Close behind is Squid Game: Unleashed, benefiting from the massive wave of hype around the second season of the hit show in late 2024. Despite being free even for non-subscribers, the game has surpassed only 20 million downloads in six months.

Here's the top Netflix game downloads (lifetime):

  • GTA: San Andreas – Rockstar – 48.3 million

  • Squid Game: Unleashed – Boss Fight – 20.7 million

  • Storyteller – Annapurna – 19.4 million

  • Bloons TD 6 – Ninja Kiwi – 13.3 million

  • Football Manager '24 Mobile – Sports Interactive – 12.7 million

  • SpongeBob: Get Cooking – Tilting Point – 12.7 million

  • Too Hot To Handle – Nanobit – 9.7 million

  • GTA: Vice City – Rockstar – 9.65 million

  • Farming Simulator 23 – Giants – 9.6 million

  • Asphalt Xtreme – Gameloft – 8.4 million

  • Netflix Stories – 7.9 million

Looking at more recent data, the momentum seems to have slowed. So far in 2025, Netflix has launched just 9 new games globally — down from 14 in the same period last year. Unless there’s a last-minute flurry of releases, this indicates the company is leaning into a “fewer, bigger, better” model, as previously hinted by new games boss Alain Tascan at GDC.

Some newer titles have struggled to make a splash. The Electric State: Kid Cosmo, tied to a high-profile Russo Brothers film, has drawn a mere 70,000 installs since February. Meanwhile, Monument Valley 3, a game from a beloved franchise, sits at a modest 2.4 million downloads since its November launch — far less than many had expected.

On the brighter side, Black Mirror: Thronglets has gained traction with over 2 million installs, helped by its tight narrative integration into the "Plaything" episode of the series. Single’s Inferno, another IP tied to a Netflix show, has also performed solidly with around 560,000 installs since March.

However, indie games are a mixed bag. Steel Paws, developed by Yu Suzuki, and the puzzle title Arranger have barely crossed the 100,000 mark. Even Braid, a celebrated indie classic, has only managed about 200,000 installs since its inclusion on the platform. While Cozy Grove has done slightly better with over 735,000 downloads, it still trails behind mainstream hits.

Netflix is also phasing out underperformers. Poinpy, the quirky vertical platformer from the Downwell creator, is leaving the platform soon after pulling in around 400,000 installs in two years. Similarly, Hextech Mayhem, a League of Legends spin-off, has been removed after hitting 1 million installs.
