Nintendo Confirms Return to Gamescom 2025 After Year-Long Absence

Nintendo Confirms Return to Gamescom 2025

Nintendo has officially announced its return to Gamescom in 2025, after skipping the event in 2024. The gaming giant shared the news through a social media post, confirming its participation in the annual gaming expo.

"Mark your calendar in red: Nintendo will be back at Gamescom in 2025," stated the company's German social media account. "We look forward to welcoming you to Cologne from August 20th to 24th!"

The timing of Nintendo's return makes perfect sense. With the Nintendo Switch 2 launching on June 5, the company will have a brand-new console to showcase by the time Gamescom arrives in August. This gives Nintendo an excellent opportunity to let more gamers try out their newest system just as the holiday shopping season approaches.

Though Nintendo hasn't revealed what games they'll be featuring at the event, several titles seem likely to make an appearance. Games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong: Bananza will probably be showcased. There's also potential for upcoming titles such as Metroid Prime 5: Beyond and Pokémon Legends Z-A to be featured.

The last time Nintendo attended Gamescom, they held private tech demonstrations of the Switch 2 for select members of the press and game developers. This year's appearance will be more public-facing as the console will already be on the market.
