Obsidian Entertainment Plans Major Upgrades for Avowed Throughout 2025

Avowed

Obsidian Entertainment has announced exciting plans to enhance its popular role-playing game Avowed with several major updates scheduled throughout 2025.

The game, which has already received positive reviews, will be getting even better with additions like a new game plus mode and photo mode in the coming months.

The recently released update 1.4 is now available for both PC and Xbox Series X/S players. One of the most notable features in this update is the new Arachnophobia safe mode. Players who prefer to avoid spider enemies can now activate this option through the accessibility menu. When enabled, spiders are replaced with colorful, round floating orbs instead of the eight-legged creatures.

According to Obsidian's forum, update 1.4 also brings several quality-of-life improvements. Xbox users can now enjoy mouse and keyboard support, while all players will benefit from additional gold and crafting materials. The update includes unique gear improvements as well.

The developers have also implemented several requested changes. Critters in the game can now be defeated and may drop loot when eliminated. Players can advance time by waiting at the Party Camp, and new optional settings allow them to view chests on the minimap or cancel Bow and Arquebus power attacks. The update also improves Soul Pads, which now dispel illusions, and enhances fog of war features.

Looking ahead to summer 2025, Obsidian has outlined plans for the next major update. Players can expect cooking and crafting improvements, new NPC abilities and behaviors, additional active and passive abilities, and new unique weapons and armor. The update will also introduce custom map markers to enhance the gaming experience.

The fall 2025 update promises even more significant additions. The highly anticipated new game plus mode tops the list, followed by a photo mode and a completely new weapon type. The studio is also working on new character presets, additional Godlike feature presets, and the ability to change a character's appearance within the game world.

Obsidian Entertainment also acknowledged their international player base in their latest blog post. "We know how important it is to experience a game in your preferred language," they stated while confirming ongoing work on localized versions for Korean and Japanese, as well as improvements for French.

Avowed has reached 5.9 million players since its launch, significantly outperforming other recent titles like Indiana Jones, which had 4 million players. However, this figure does not directly indicate actual sales; on Steam, Avowed peaked at just 19,161 players, with a recent 24-hour peak of only 532 players.
