Released in October, the latest entry in the Pokémon franchise is already getting fresh content, with the expansion launching worldwide on Wednesday, December 10.

The Mega Dimension DLC introduces new storylines, mechanics, and Pokémon, making it one of the most ambitious add-ons in recent Pokémon history. Players will join Team MZ alongside newcomer Ansha and her Hoopa to investigate strange distortions around Lumiose City. These distortions lead to Hyperspace Lumiose, a new zone filled with powerful Pokémon, regional variants, and Mega Evolutions.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC Release Time

While Nintendo and The Pokémon Company haven’t officially confirmed the exact start time, past DLC launches give us a strong estimate.

According to Serebii.net’s Joe Merrick, Pokémon patches and expansions typically go live simultaneously worldwide. That means Mega Dimension should unlock at 1:00 a.m. UTC on December 10. Here’s what that looks like across regions:

  • West Coast North America (PDT): 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9

  • East Coast North America (EDT): 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9

  • Brazil (BRT): 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9

  • United Kingdom (BST): 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10

  • Western Europe (CEST): 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10

  • Japan (JST): 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10

  • Australia (AEDT): 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10

This simultaneous rollout means players won’t be able to jump in early using overseas accounts, unlike some past Pokémon releases.

What’s Coming in the Mega Dimension DLC

The expansion promises a wealth of new content, both confirmed and leaked:

  • New Zone: Explore Hyperspace Lumiose, a distorted version of the iconic city.

  • Mega Evolutions: Includes confirmed forms like Mega Raichu X/Y, Mega Chimecho, Mega Lucario Z, Mega Zeraora, and Mega Baxcalibur.

  • Leaked Megas: Datamines suggest additions such as Mega Absol Z, Mega Garchomp Z, Mega Darkrai, Mega Heatran, and more.

  • Level Cap Breakthrough: Pokémon exceeding level 100 for the first time, powered by special donuts baked in a new minigame.

  • Returning Pokémon: Up to 138 Pokémon are expected to return, including fan favorites like Blaziken, Milotic, Rayquaza, Darkrai, and Magearna.

  • New Mechanics: A roguelike-inspired baking minigame with Hoopa and Ansha, influencing encounters and modifiers in Hyperspace Lumiose.

  • Characters: Team MZ returns, joined by familiar faces like Korrina, Corbeau, and Philippe.

  • Post-Launch Content: Ranked battle rewards, including Mega Baxcalibur from Season 4 (available December 27), plus likely new Research Tasks.
