PS5 Game "Judas" Misses Release Window With No Updates From Developers

Judas

The highly anticipated PS5 game "Judas" has missed its March 2025 release window without any announcement from its developers. Many players are only now starting to notice this silent delay.

Created by Ken Levine, the mind behind the popular BioShock series, Judas was expected to launch by March 2025 at the latest. This timeline was confirmed by Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick in February 2023, who seemed confident about this release schedule.

Unfortunately, the March deadline has now passed with complete silence from both the developer Ghost Story Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive.

What makes this situation more concerning is that while Take-Two recently announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 would be delayed until May 2026, they made no mention of Judas whatsoever.

According to a report by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier from 2022, the game was experiencing "development hell," with sources pointing to Levine's leadership style as a cause of developer burnout.

Given this earlier reporting and the current silence surrounding the project, many gaming enthusiasts are questioning whether Judas will ever be completed and released.

What We Know About Judas

Judas was first officially revealed at The Game Awards 2022 and is the debut title from Ghost Story Games, which formed in 2017 when Ken Levine rebranded his former studio, Irrational Games.

Many gamers see Judas as a spiritual successor to the BioShock series due to Levine's involvement. The game promises to use what Levine calls "Narrative LEGOS," an approach that emphasizes player freedom and choice-driven storytelling. It's described as an FPS-RPG hybrid with roguelike elements.

The most recent update on Judas came during last year's PlayStation State of Play event in late January, which featured a story trailer. Since then, fans have heard nothing substantial about the game's development or release plans.

Possible Explanations for the Delay

One possible explanation for the delay might be the crowded release schedule in early 2025. The first half of the year saw the launch of many major titles including Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Avowed, Civilization 7, Split Fiction, and Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Ghost Story Games might have decided to avoid competing with these titles, preferring to launch during a quieter period when Judas could receive more attention. The summer months traditionally feature fewer major game releases, which could provide an opportunity for Judas to stand out.

Some industry observers have speculated that the game might even opt for a surprise release later this year, though such a move would be unusual for a high-profile title.

It's worth noting that another BioShock-related project, BioShock 4, has also been in development for at least five years by 2K's Cloud Chamber studio. Similar to Judas, this project has provided very few updates on its progress.

For now, fans of Ken Levine's work can only wait and hope that Ghost Story Games will break their silence soon, providing some clarity on when—or if—Judas will finally see the light of day.
