Roblox Earns Over $1 Billion in First Quarter of 2025

Roblox

Roblox brought more than $1 billion in revenue in the first quarter of the fiscal year.

The company's financial report shows impressive growth in all key areas:

  • Revenue reached $1.04 billion, which is 29% higher than the same period last year.

  • Bookings grew even more, hitting $1.2 billion—a 31% increase compared to the first quarter of 2024.

  • While Roblox is still operating at a loss, the company reduced its net losses from $270.8 million last year to $215.4 million this quarter.

According to Roblox, several recent business strategies helped drive this success. These include differential pricing and price optimization features launched in late 2024, along with regional pricing recommendations that were introduced just last week.

"In addition to an ongoing focus on raw performance and quality, investments in the virtual economy and within search and discovery are yielding encouraging results," the company stated in its report. These improvements are helping boost platform monetization, bookings growth, and creator earnings.

Daily active users saw a 26% jump, reaching 97.8 million people worldwide. Roblox reports that growth was particularly strong in the United States and Canada, where daily active users jumped by 22%.

Users are also spending more time on the platform, with hours engaged increasing by 30% to reach 21.7 billion hours. The number of people making purchases has grown as well, with average monthly unique payers rising by 29% to 20.2 million.

David Baszucki, CEO and founder of Roblox, expressed satisfaction with the quarter's performance. "In Q1 2025, all of our results were above the guidance we provided on our Q4 2024 earnings call as we deliver on several key growth initiatives," he said.

Baszucki highlighted the success of Roblox creators, revealing that they earned $281.6 million over the past year. More impressively, over 100 developers on the platform earned more than $1 million each.

Despite these positive results, Roblox has maintained its original forecast for the full year. However, the company has adjusted its predicted net losses, now expecting to lose between $977 million and $1.03 billion by year's end.
