Roblox reported stronger-than-expected financial results for the third quarter of 2026, with revenue rising 16% year-over-year despite declines in users, engagement, and bookings.

The quarter also highlighted Roblox's growing push into artificial intelligence, with the company revealing that AI tools are now being widely adopted by creators across the platform.

The Numbers

For the three months ended September 30, 2026:

  • Revenue: $1.57 billion, up 16% year-over-year

  • Bookings: $1.70 billion, down 12% year-over-year

  • Average Daily Active Users (DAUs): 138 million, down 9% year-over-year

  • Hours Engaged: 34 billion, down 15% year-over-year

  • Consolidated Net Loss: $230 million, improved from $258 million a year ago

  • Adjusted EBITDA: $138 million, up from $46 million last year

  • Cash Flow from Operations: $395 million

  • Free Cash Flow: $364 million

Despite lower engagement metrics, Roblox significantly improved profitability during the quarter. Adjusted EBITDA nearly tripled compared to the same period last year, while net losses narrowed.

User Engagement Declines Across Regions

Roblox's user base and engagement figures fell year-over-year, which the company attributed largely to difficult comparisons against a particularly strong 2025.

Daily Active Users by Region

  • United States & Canada: 24 million (-10%)

  • Europe: 32 million (-5%)

  • APAC: 42 million (-9%)

  • Rest of World: 40 million (-11%)

  • Total DAUs: 138 million (-9%)

Hours Engaged by Region

  • United States & Canada: 7 billion (-15%)

  • Europe: 8 billion (-12%)

  • APAC: 10 billion (-15%)

  • Rest of World: 9 billion (-17%)

  • Total Hours Engaged: 34 billion (-15%)

Notably, DAUs fell below 140 million for the first time since Q1 2026.

Revenue Growth Remains Strong

While engagement softened, revenue continued to increase across every region.

Revenue by Region

  • United States & Canada: $895 million (+10%)

  • Europe: $325 million (+23%)

  • APAC: $191 million (+25%)

  • Rest of World: $161 million (+28%)

  • Total Revenue: $1.572 billion (+16%)

The strongest growth came from international markets, particularly APAC and Rest of World territories.

Payer Metrics Show Softer Spending Activity

Several monetization metrics also declined during the quarter.

Payer Metrics

  • Average Monthly Unique Payers: 30.3 million (-16%)

  • Average Bookings per Monthly Unique Payer: $18.69

  • Average Bookings per DAU: $12.29 (-3%)

Even with fewer paying users, Roblox's overall revenue continued growing thanks to the scale of its platform and broader monetization efforts.

AI Is Becoming a Major Part of Roblox

One of the biggest themes in Roblox's shareholder letter was the growing role of artificial intelligence in game creation.

The company revealed that more than 80% of its Top 100 games by hours engaged now use AI tools to help accelerate development.

Roblox also said:

  • 97% of creators who regularly use AI reported faster development timelines.

  • Published games using AI increased more than 50% quarter-over-quarter.

  • AI-driven titles such as Break and Steal an Egg and Huss Valley entered the Top 20 games ranked by concurrent players.

Earlier this year, Roblox introduced agentic AI tools before unveiling its AI-powered Build feature at the Roblox Developers Conference.

Build has since launched in alpha across:

  • New Zealand

  • Singapore

  • Serbia

  • Thailand

According to Roblox, more than 500,000 users have already published over 70,000 games using the feature.

Roblox CEO David Baszucki believes AI is "fundamentally reshaping the gaming industry, driving a step function change in the pace at which content can be created."

"When anyone can create a game, what matters most is scaled distribution, effective discovery, a robust economy, industry-leading safety, and infrastructure to support it all."

He also reiterated Roblox's long-term ambitions for the platform.

"Roblox is built on an architecture that combines all of these elements, and AI has accelerated our ambitions. We're building Roblox into the platform for all gaming, where any game can be created once, run anywhere, on any device at a massive scale."

Roblox Is Betting Big on Adult Users

Beyond AI, Roblox continues focusing on expanding its over-18 audience.

The company said it has been improving content quality, increasing creator rewards, enhancing user discovery systems, and investing in user acquisition efforts aimed at adults.

Key initiatives include:

  • Roblox Everywhere

  • Roblox Reality AI upscaler

  • Higher fidelity engine improvements

  • Increased DevEx rates for monetization from U.S. users aged 18 and older

  • Expanded paid acquisition campaigns

  • Cohort-based discovery improvements

According to Roblox, users aged over 18 are now the platform's fastest-growing demographic.

The company also revealed that U.S. users over 18 generate more than 50% higher monetization compared to under-18 users, making the segment increasingly important for future growth.

Strong Balance Sheet and Q4 Outlook

Roblox ended the quarter with a sizeable cash position.

Balance Sheet Highlights

  • Total Cash, Cash Equivalents, and Investments: $6.2 billion

  • Net Cash and Investments: $5.2 billion

For Q4 2026, Roblox expects:

  • Revenue between $1.47 billion and $1.58 billion

  • Bookings between $1.89 billion and $2.00 billion

  • Adjusted EBITDA between -$70 million and -$10 million

  • Operating Cash Flow between $190 million and $275 million

  • Free Cash Flow between -$190 million and -$105 million
