Roblox will soon introduce a new “Sensitive Issues” content tag to certain experiences on its platform, aiming to give parents more control over what their children can access.
The feature will officially roll out on August 11, 2025, and will apply to experiences primarily themed around sensitive social, political, or religious topics.
According to the company’s Creator Hub post, this new tag is "not meant to take a stance on any particular issue." Instead, Roblox said the goal is to help parents decide whether such content is "right for their family," especially when it involves topics that may require "adult guidance."
Experiences carrying this tag will be inaccessible by default to users under 13, although parents can choose to allow access for older teens.
Roblox defines “sensitive issues” as topics that involve polarized viewpoints and evoke a strong emotional response or passionate debate.
Examples provided include immigration, capital punishment, gun control, marriage equality, pay equity in sports, prayer in schools, racial profiling, affirmative action, vaccination policies, and reproductive rights.
The company stressed that this is not an exhaustive list—any topic that is frequently in the news and sparks strong opinions could qualify.
Developers will be required to answer an additional question in the platform’s Maturity & Compliance Questionnaire to indicate if their experience primarily covers such issues. If it does, the “Sensitive Issues” tag will be applied automatically. Roblox clarified that experiences won’t be removed or suspended unless creators submit inaccurate information, in which case penalties could follow. Creators are encouraged to update their questionnaire by September 29, 2025.
Importantly, Roblox also made it clear that this change is not in response to any government regulation or request.
