Rumors are once again swirling that Grand Theft Auto VI could make its way to Nintendo’s Switch 2. The speculation began with a social media post claiming Rockstar Games is actively working on a port, though it would arrive after the game launches on other major platforms, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The claim came from leaker Nash Weedle, who stated that GTA 6 is indeed in development for Switch 2 but won’t be coming at launch day (which is now November 19, 2026). He also clarified that the game’s recent delay isn’t connected to this version. Nash has built a reputation for credible Nintendo-related leaks, which is why fans are paying attention this time.
Adding weight to the rumor, insider NateTheHate commented that Rockstar has been testing GTA 6 on Switch 2 hardware. However, he cautioned that “tests don’t always equal release.”

If GTA 6 does land on Switch 2, it would mark the biggest Rockstar release ever on a Nintendo console. The remastered GTA Trilogy already appeared on the Switch, but GTA 5 never made the jump. According to discussions online, GTA 6 could technically run on Switch 2, though likely with compromises like lower frame rates, reduced resolution, and scaled-back visuals compared to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.
Still, the idea of playing GTA 6 on a handheld console is exciting. At this stage, it’s all speculation, but the chatter from reliable insiders has certainly reignited hope.
