Rovio has announced the release of its upcoming game Angry Birds Bounce, which will be available exclusively on Apple Arcade starting July 3, 2025. This marks the first major mobile Angry Birds title since Angry Birds Journey launched over three years ago.

This release also makes it the first Angry Birds game to be developed entirely under Sega’s ownership, following its acquisition of Rovio in 2023.

While Rovio previously released Angry Birds Showdown via YouTube Playables in early 2024, Angry Birds Bounce is considered the first full-fledged game in the franchise since the Sega deal.

One of the standout features in Angry Birds Bounce is its shift to vertical gameplay, blending the familiar slingshot action with an arcade-style brick-breaker experience. Players will use a zig-zag motion instead of the classic linear shots, offering a fresh way to play while keeping the original spirit intact.

The game also presents the largest character lineup in the history of Angry Birds. Alongside fan favorite birds, Red, Chuck, and Bomb, it introduces two brand-new characters—Gordon, who is inspired by Canadian culture and designed by Rovio’s Toronto studio, and Jo, who becomes the first non-binary character in the Angry Birds universe.

Speaking about the game, Bryan Cook, Game Lead for Angry Birds Bounce, said, “Angry Birds Bounce reinvents the classic Angry Birds formula with a vertical twist, refreshing the gameplay while staying true to the brand’s DNA.”

Since Sega completed its $775 million acquisition of Rovio in August 2023, the companies have worked closely together on multiple crossover events. This includes five Angry Birds–Sonic collaborations and the upcoming Sonic Rumble, a party-style battle royale game where Rovio is reportedly acting as a go-to-market strategist. Although Sonic Rumble has faced several delays, it is still expected to launch sometime in 2025.
