A recent variety show featuring TXT's Soobin and DAY6's Young K has sparked new rumors about a possible collaboration between Overwatch 2 and the popular K-pop group.
During the May 1 broadcast, Young K enthusiastically shared his love for Overwatch 2, trying to convince Soobin to return to the game he hadn't played since his trainee days. The conversation took an interesting turn when Dylan Snyder, a Senior Game Designer for Overwatch 2, joined via video call.
Snyder, known for his work on Overwatch 2's new Stadium mode and the character Freja with wind-based abilities, showed genuine excitement meeting the K-pop stars. His appearance wasn't just casual - as a senior designer on the Overwatch team, his involvement has led many fans to speculate about a potential official collaboration.
This speculation makes sense given Overwatch 2's history with K-pop collaborations. In November 2023, the game partnered with girl group LE SSERAFIM for a highly successful event featuring their hit song "Perfect Night." The collaboration included special character skins, themed cosmetics, and a unique Concert Clash game mode that blended K-pop aesthetics with Overwatch gameplay.
More recently, in March 2025, LE SSERAFIM had another collaboration with Overwatch 2. This time, it introduced the "FEARLESS collection," featuring new skins for heroes Mercy, Juno, D.Va, Ashe, and Illari. The collaboration also included in-game challenges that allowed players to earn rewards, such as the Legendary Fawksey James Junkrat skin. Blizzard worked closely with LE SSERAFIM and their Korean team to design these skins, incorporating the group's input on how the heroes should look.
What makes this potential partnership particularly interesting is that both LE SSERAFIM and TXT belong to HYBE LABELS, one of South Korea's most influential entertainment companies.
In fact, HYBE has been making significant efforts to expand into the gaming sector through their subsidiary HYBE IM, developing games using their K-pop IPs. A collaboration between TXT and Overwatch 2 could further enhance their gaming presence and create valuable cross-promotional opportunities.
From Blizzard's perspective, the timing aligns with their increased focus on regional markets, particularly in Asia. The company recently chose Nexon, a major Korean game developer, as their partner to develop the next Starcraft game and handle the distribution of Overwatch Mobile in the region. This marks the first time a StarCraft title is being developed outside of Blizzard's direct control - a significant shift in strategy for a franchise that, alongside Overwatch, enjoys massive popularity in Korea.
The potential collaboration could serve multiple strategic goals: strengthening Overwatch 2's appeal among K-pop fans, supporting TXT's visibility as they prepare to return from their announced break later in 2025, and deepening Blizzard's connection to the Korean market.
So far, neither Blizzard nor HYBE has officially confirmed the collaboration.
