SEGA has officially confirmed that SEGA Football Club Champions 2026 will release worldwide on January 22, 2026.
The free-to-play football management game will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android. Pre-registration is now open.

This latest entry builds on the long-running Japanese series SakaTsuku, which has been around for 30 years. For the first time, SEGA is positioning the game as a truly global title, powered by the Football Manager engine and featuring FIFPRO-licensed player data. That means you’ll be managing real players across leagues like the J League and K League, while competing in European Leagues.
If you’ve played Football Manager before, you’ll notice some differences. SEGA has streamlined the gameplay loop to make it more accessible, closer to mobile management sims. Instead of micromanaging every detail, you’ll focus on strategy, transfers, and tactical setups. For players who enjoy building a squad but don’t want to drown in spreadsheets, this feels like a welcome balance.
Features and Gameplay
Club Management: Recruit global stars, scout transfers, and nurture young talent.
Facilities: Build stadiums, training centers, and upgrade infrastructure.
Tactics: Experiment with endless formations and strategies to outsmart rivals.
Competition: Challenge others in PvP, Cup matches, and international tournaments.
Progression: Rise from local beginnings to global dominance.
The game also introduces Lawless Frontier-style PvP leaderboards and gacha-style recruitment, hinting at microtransactions being part of the structure. While that might raise eyebrows, SEGA is promising seasonal content updates to keep things fresh.
One of the biggest selling points is cross-play and cross-progression. Whether you’re on console, PC, or mobile, your club carries over seamlessly.
For fans of football management sims, this feels like a hybrid between EA FC’s manager mode and Football Manager, but with a free-to-play twist.
