Sega has revealed detailed sales data for several of its biggest titles over the past six fiscal years due to a PDF redaction error.

The information was part of an internal presentation for Sega’s annual management meeting. The document attempted to hide sales numbers using a simple gray overlay. However, the underlying text remained accessible, allowing anyone with basic tools to view the complete data.

The leaked figures offer rare insight into the commercial performance of 11 major Sega games from FY2020 through FY2025.

Among the biggest takeaways is Persona 5 Royal, which continues to show its strong staying power. Across six fiscal years, it managed to hit a total of 7.25 million units sold, making it the top-selling title on the list. The remaster clearly gave the game a second wind, with significant spikes in FY2023 and FY2025.

Sonic also made an impressive showing, proving that the blue blur still has mass-market appeal. Sonic Frontiers (Nov 2022) racked up 4.57 million units, while Sonic Superstars (Oct 2023), despite launching much later, still pushed 2.43 million units in just two years. Meanwhile, Team Sonic Racing (2019) maintained modest traction, finishing with 3.5 million units sold over six years.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Jan 2020) also held strong, with 2.86 million copies sold to date. Its spin-off, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name (Nov 2023), racked up 960,000 units, while Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (Jan 2024) has already moved 1.66 million units in just over a year.

On the strategy side, Total War: Three Kingdoms (May 2019) and Total War: Warhammer III (Feb 2022) sold 3.21 million and 2.34 million units, respectively, confirming the franchise's ongoing strength in the PC space. Despite fewer releases in recent years, both titles continue to move copies steadily each fiscal cycle.

Even more recent entries like Persona 3 Reload (Feb 2024) and Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (June 2024) made a mark, selling 2.07 million and 2.11 million units respectively.

Ultimately, the leak may have been a redaction mistake—but for fans of Sega franchises, it’s a rare window into just how well (or poorly) their favorite titles are doing in the market.
